It's Father's Day, and it brings several things to mind. Number one, there are many fathers out there who have never had biological offspring. There are men who have raised step-children, foster children, nieces and nephews. Men who have acted as surrogate fathers have displayed the highest nobility. It is hard enough for a woman to love children who are not her own, but for a man, it must be even more difficult.
And let us not forget the single mothers, acting as mother and father. They ought also to be celebrated today. Let the spirit of Father's Day bless those who are not usually thought of as fathers. Fatherhood, after all, really means an attitude of caring and protection, not just the deposit of sperm by whatever method.

Got this one in my mail today. It is worth repeating here.
Dear Sis,
I have tried several times to leave a comment on your blog, with no success. I can't figure out the f****** directions! So here's the comment I've been trying to leave on your Father's Day message"
Raising any youngster--whether human or animal--is a big job. It takes a lot of parental investment to make healthy beings. Praise to all parents who put in the time.
Love, Bro
